This event is a vibrant tribute to the Gullah Geechee heritage\, celebrating the deep roots and vibrant spirit of the Gullah Geechee nation. The event aims to educate and promote justice for the Gullah Geechee people\, whose lineage and culture stretch across the coasts of South Carolina\, Georgia\, and Florida. Jasmin Frink\, a proud descendant of the Gullah Geechee\, contributes to the event\, providing insights and cultural heritage to guide the celebration\, making it an authentic and profound acknowledgment of this obscured culture to the world. The event\, held on November 17th\, 2023\, at the American Church in Paris\, will feature captivating music performances\, showcasing the soulful sounds that have influenced genres from Gospel to Rock’n Roll. Furthermore\, a digitally curated “Gullah Exhibition” will take the audience on a visual journey through the history and art of this fascinating culture. A talented singer and violinist\, Inés curated the event’s music\, gathering together Miss Maddly\, Wolwang Valburn\, Shirley Soa blending traditional ring shout with contemporary pieces influenced by Gullah traditions. Her expertise was key in assembling our performers and crafting a diverse musical experience. Syamka: Syamka is a soulful and powerful voice with sounds that fuse Neo-Soul\, R&B\, Caribbean and Hip-Hop styles. Using her looper\, she plays with the architecture of her pieces.
