ArtCapital Paris, 2023 at the Grand Palais Éphémère

In the October 2022 edition of the prestigious Carrousel Du Louvre Artshopping Artfair, curator Öykü Canlı significantly contributed to the City of Lights’ cultural vibrance by showcasing a remarkable array of talent. With her extensive background in arts association work, Öykü played a key role in bringing together more than 20 contemporary Turkish artists from across the globe, highlighting the rich, diverse, and dynamic expressions of Turkish art on an international stage.

This edition of the Art Shopping fair at the Carrousel du Louvre presented a unique convergence of artistic visions and narratives, firmly establishing itself as a leading contemporary art fair in Paris. For its 33rd edition, the event showcased an eclectic array of artists and galleries from around the world, underscoring the fair’s commitment to diversity and inclusion in the arts. With more than 10,000 visitors annually, the fair has become a pivotal venue for discovering and acquiring works by painters, sculptors, digital artists, and photographers, among others.

The ethos of Art Shopping is to foster direct dialogue between artists and art enthusiasts, inviting talented creators to discuss their work and engage with both seasoned collectors and those new to the art world. The fair’s diverse offerings spanned painting, sculpture, digital art, engraving, street art, and photography, with a special emphasis on photography through the Photo Shopping space—a dedicated area celebrating the art of photography with about thirty artists selected by experts.

Representing a multitude of countries including France, Japan, Argentina, Sweden, South America, Arabia, Belgium, and more, the fair became an ideal platform for discovering international artists and emerging talents. Öykü Canlı’s curation, specifically, offered visitors a window into the contemporary Turkish art scene, showcasing pieces that explore themes of identity, belonging, and the transcendent nature of art that connects individuals across cultures.

As the Carrousel Du Louvre Artshopping Artfair looks forward to its spring edition in 2024, aiming to promote a broad spectrum of art from the conceptual to the visual, it continues to be a place where art can be not only admired but also acquired. This curated selection by Öykü Canlı, celebrated the unique heritage and innovative spirit of Turkish artists, inviting attendees to immerse themselves in a cultural experience that bridges geographical and artistic divides.
